Members of the State Assembly stood with good government groups in Albany today to call for the passage of a "Truth in Spending" bill.

The bill, sponsored by Assemblyman Jim Tedisco, would require the governor and the legislature to fully disclose how any public funds are spent and where the money comes from.

The legislation has the support of 40 lawmakers so far, including Assemblyman Marc Butler.   Butler says the measure will build upon reforms already enacted by the legislature.

The bill is a direct response to the recent corruption scandals at the State Capitol that included the convictions of the Assembly Speaker and Senate Majority Leader.

Groups supporting the legislation include NYPIRG, Citizens Union, the Empire Center and the League of Women Voters.
