Alex Rodriguez crushed a three-run home run, Derek Jeter had four hits and C.C. Sabathia threw eight strong innings against the powerful Ranger offense, as the Yankees got a 7-4 win in Texas on Monday night.

Jeter raised his average to .411, while he, Robinson Cano and Chris Stewart all scored two runs apiece, helping deal the Rangers just their fourth loss of the season (13-4).

Curtis Granderson got the Yankees (10-6) a first inning lead with a two out, two-RBI single off Derek Holland, who fell to 2-1 after allowing all seven of New York's runs in six innings.

Sabathia threw 109 pitches over eight innings of four-run ball. Sabathia did allow a mammoth solo-blast to Josh Hamilton, his eighth round-tripper of the year.

Mariano Rivera worked the ninth to pick up his fourth save.

Yu Darvish (2-0) and Hiroki Kiroda (1-2) are the scheduled starters for Tuesday night (8:05).
