Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired will be adding 18 new jobs.

The new jobs are the result of a federal agency doubling the value and extending the life of a contract to provide call center services.

The contract totals $7.5 million over five years.

Most of the jobs will go to people who are blind or visually impaired.

CABVI's Customer Service representatives are handling over 140,000 calls, twice as many as originally expected.
