Wampsville, NY (WIBX) - The closing of the Camp Georgetown Correctional Facility in Madison County will create a major financial hardship for the county's Solid Waste Management Program.

Director James Zecca says inmates at Camp Georgetown work at the county landfill's scrap metal site.

He says the program brings in over $100,000 dollars a year.

Zecca's been told the Camp Georgetown Work Program will be eliminated within the next two weeks.

Camp Georgetown is one of seven prisons across the state slated for closure by Governor Cuomo.
