Can Peace Be Achieved in Gaza?

The United Nations is demanding an immediate and unconditional humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

During a midnight meeting early this morning the council says a ceasefire is needed to allow "urgently needed assistance" to get through to those in need of aid.

The modern version of the conflict between Israel and Palestine has lasted for decades.  Some form of it has existed though for centuries.  Will it ever end?  If so, how?  If not, what will happen?
