A Canastota woman has been charged for alleged animal cruelty. State Police in Oneida have arrested 31-year-old Jalene D. Scribner. State Police say that The Animal Control Office in the Town of Lenox responded to Scribner's address, following a complaint.

It is reported that a dog had been left chained up at the residence with no food, water, or shelter. The initial visit from the Office of Animal Control happened on December 10th. Scribner was made aware of the laws, and given a warning. Three days later, periodic checks were being conducted at the residence.

State Police say,

On December 13, 2016, The Dog Control Officer along with Troopers, after conducting periodic checks at that residence, found the dog, a 4 year-old Pitbull/Beagle mix, chained up on the back porch without any food, water or shelter.  The dog was immediately removed from the yard and taken to Wanderer’s Rest pending case disposition.

On December 15th, 2016 Jalene Scribner was arrested, and given an appearance ticket for the Town of Lenox Court on December 20th.
