Candlelight Vigil Tonight for Herkimer College Student

A candlelight vigil will beheld tonight in memory of Herkimer College student Peter McAvoy who collapsed and died in his apartment Saturday night.

There is no word yet on the cause of death of the McAvoy, a senior from Dundee, Scotland, who was captain of the men’s soccer team.

In a statement issued by the college Dean of Students Matthew Hawes said, “Our deepest condolences are with Peter’s family as they grieve this tragic loss. Our thoughts are also with his teammates, coaches, friends, faculty and staff during this difficult time.”

The vigil will take place at Wehrum Stadium at 7:00pm tonight, April 21, 2014.
