TROY, N.Y. (AP) — A 26-year-old man who kidnapped two Albany-area women while on parole for a rape conviction has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The Rensselaer County District Attorney's Office says Shane Harding of Schodack was sentenced Thursday in the courtroom in Troy where he pleaded guilty in March to two counts of kidnapping.

Harding kidnapped two women separately at gunpoint on September 30, 2014. The first woman escaped, but authorities say he took the second victim to western Massachusetts, where he raped her. Prosecutors say his plea in New York settles the Massachusetts rape charge.

He returned to the Albany area and forced an acquaintance to drive him through Washington, Warren and Saratoga counties. He was captured in Saratoga Springs on October 1, 2014.

Harding had been released from prison early last year after serving time for a 2008 rape conviction.
