New Hartford, NY (WIBX) - A Sauquoit man is in jail after his car broke down this morning in Washington Mills, and an officer stopped to render him aid. According to New Hartford police, the officer uncovered a host of violations allegedly committed by the driver, 23-year-old Rafael Morales, Jr. They say Morales' car was not registered and his drivers license was suspended ... for the 7th time.

Officials say they also found three hypodermic needles and a small amount of heroine on him. Morales, who's also on parole for a previous run in with the law, is facing an array of charges and is being held in Oneida County Jail with bail set at $1,000.

Charges:

  • 3 counts of Criminal Possession Of a Hypodermic Instrument, a misdemeanor
  • 1 count of Criminal Possession Of A Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor
  • 2 counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, misdemeanors
  • Driving an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, a violation
