Who is the man in the cowboy hat who was seen helping victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings?

Meet Carlos Arredondo, a Red Cross volunteer, who sprung into action to help others, risking his own safety to do so.

(pictured above without his hat, Arredondo's photo was one of the initial images being broadcast in the aftermath of the explosions)

Arredondo joined WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning to share the dramatic experience.

During our conversation we learned a little background on Carlos - a man who is not stranger to dealing with horrific incidents. Arredondo lost one son to war, and another to suicide.

On the show, we referred to him as a hero, but Carlos was quick to downplay his efforts at the Boston Marathon finish line, saying he was just one of many people who acted quickly to help others.
