The Cincinnati Bearcats bounced the top seed in the Big East Tournament with a 71-68 victory over Syracuse, ranked No. 2 in the country, in the conference semifinals on Friday night.

The Orange trailed by as many as 17 in the first half and a dozen at the break.

Yancy Gates and Sean Kilpatrick scored 18 each for Cincy who also got eleven apiece from Dion Dixon and Cashmere Wright.

Dion Waiters gave his best effort in the comeback attempt putting up 28 points on 7-of-10 shooting from 3-point range.

The Orange were dealt just their second loss of the season, dropping to 31-2 heading into the national championship tournament where they are expected to be one of the four No. 1 seeds.

*Syracuse has struggled rebounding the ball all season long but actually out-rebounded the Bearcats 32-31.
