SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — A celebrity pathologist testifying at the murder trial of Dr. Robert Neulander says Neulander's wife suffered at least two blows to the side of her skull in a "homicidal assault."

Dr. Michael Baden suggested in court Thursday that the severe head injuries were not caused by a fall in the shower, as Neulander has maintained.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that the 80-year-old pathologist estimated that Leslie Neulander had been dead for hours when her daughter called 911 after her father alerted her that her mother was hurt.

The defense will have his own experts testify later in the trial who may dispute Baden's conclusions.

Baden has investigated deaths of high-profile people ranging from President Kennedy and Martin Luther King to comedian John Belushi.

Testimony will continue Friday.
