Gas prices in Central New York continue to rise.

Ed Welsh of AAA Central New York says the average price in the Utica-Rome area is $2.74 a gallon.  That's up more than 20 cents since early April.

Welsh says the increase is mainly due to the switch over to summer fuel blends, which has to be done nationwide by May 1st.

He says we're still paying more than a buck less than last year at this time.
