Central New York Weather Advisories January 2016
Several weather-related advisories remain in effect from Monday through Wednesday.
A wind advisory remains in effect on Monday, January 11, 2016. Winds with speeds from 15 to 25 miles per hour are anticipated, with gusts of up to 40 miles per hour.
Wind could affect travel conditions.
A lake effect snow watch is in effect from Tuesday, January 12, 2016 through Wednesday, January 13, 2016.
The advisory for heavy lake effect snow has been issued for Madison, Oneida, and Onondaga counties, with accumulations of betwen 8 and 12 inches of snow possible.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), "A weak low pressure system will track to the north and bring some light snow to most of Central New York on Tuesday...The lake effect snows will taper off by Wednesday night."
Dangerous travel conditions are expected, the NWS says, with "very poor visibility in snow and blowing snow, drifting snow which could make keeping roads clear challenging."
