If you're getting set to vote at Tuesday's School Board Elections at Central Valley Academy in Ilion, you might want to read this report put out by the school.  It's the scores for students grade by grade and shows CVA drastically lagging behind the state standards and other schools in the area.

For example, in 2015 a shocking 2% of the students in 8th grade are performing at grade level.  Another statistic compares CVA's graduation numbers to other schools in the area. While some say it's unfair to compare CVA's 25% readiness score to New Hartford's 71.8%, when compared to similar school districts, the numbers are still drastically low.  Schools like Richfield Springs, Mt. Markham, New York Mills and Cooperstown are all near or above the 50% mark.  CVA ranks 35th out of 36 schools in the region.

Dr. Richard Hughes was in-studio Monday morning on WIBX. He said he feels the scores warrant significant change in the way these students are taught.

Hughes also discussed the fact that CVA, Ilion and Mohawk alumni were recently interviewed concerning their high school experience.  56% of them said that their high school education did not prepare them for life after high school.
