ATTICA, N.Y. (AP) — Hundreds of personal items collected after the nation's deadliest prison riot will be returned to their owners and families as they mark the 43rd anniversary of the uprising.

New York corrections officials, members of the guards' union and family members of those killed will gather in front of Attica Correctional Facility for a series of events on Saturday.

They will remember the 11 corrections officers and civilians who were killed during the five-day 1971 riot at the upstate New York prison.

Members of a group called the Forgotten Victims of Attica have sought the return of personal items for years. Acting Corrections Commissioner Anthony Annucci will deliver them during a private meeting.
