FAIR HAVEN, Vt. (AP) — Vermont police say a high-speed chase involving stolen bottles of beer being thrown at police cars has ended with the arrest of the driver.

Police in upstate New York and Vermont said Monday they arrested a 21-year-old Granville, N.Y. man early Friday after he led police on a high-speed pursuit from New York to Vermont. The Rutland Herald reports police are still working to identify a passenger in the vehicle who escaped into the woods in Fair Haven at the end of the chase.

Granville police say they began pursuit of the vehicle after witnessing the suspects steal beer from an area convenience store. Granville Police Sgt. Ryan Pedone says his department broke off the chase at the Vermont border, alerting police on the other side.
