The New York State Department of Transportation says a $1.1 million project to rehabilitate the Chenanago Road Bridge over the Sauquoit Creek in Utica and New Hartford is complete.

The bridge re-opened to traffic on Friday.

The project was funded by Governor Cuomo's Critical-Flood Prone bridge program.  Work included replacing the bridge deck, steel girders and bearings.  The bridge had been closed since August 1st.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente said, “This rehabilitated bridge improves safety for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists while protecting against extreme weather. Improved infrastructure is vital to a growing economy and we are pleased to see this project completed.”
