Utica, NY (WIBX) – Faced with what he calls drastic cuts to his department, Utica Police Chief Mark Williams has requested an independent audit of the UPD.

Williams says the report could be helpful to him in the future when it comes to dealing with city government leaders, including the Common Council

The audit will be conducted by the State Division of Criminal Justice Services on May 31st at no cost to taxpayers.

He says this will be the first time an independent audit of the department has been done
