Child Abuse Prevention Month in April is being marked in the region with a number of activities and presentations.

Monday, April 9 New Yorkers are encouraged to wear blue in support of strong families and safe children, pinwheels will be popping up around Broome County as a symbol of a happy childhood for all children and an information display is set up at the Broome County Library.

The Family Violence Prevention Council of Broome County says they are looking to highlight six protective factors to strengthen families.  Those are: nurturing and attachment, knowledge of parenting and child development, parents’ resilience, supports for parents, health social and emotional development of children and social connections for families.
