The Chief of the Chittenango Police Department is under arrest following a thirteen month investigation.

Officials with the Madison County Sheriff's Office say Jeffrey Paul, who also served as a part-time deputy for the agency, allegedly submitted overlapping time sheets from both jobs.

The time sheets also included hours he spent operating his business, the Paul Funeral Home in Madison and Brookfield.

Search warrants were executed last week at both the Chittenango Police Department and Village Offices, along with Paul's businesses. Madison County Sheriff Allen Riley says Paul was cooperative during the investigation.

He is charged with two felony counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing and has been relieved of his does in both the Village of Chittenango and the Sheriff's Office.
