Rome, NY (WIBX) - The City of Rome is urging residents to conserve water and remove debris from around their homes in preparation for Hurricane Sandy.

While the City says it has a supply of fresh water for several days authorities are urging residents to store water and limit consumption.  Residents with private well systems or booster pumps will lose access to water during a power outage.

Residents who need emergency assistance for flooded roadways, downed trees, and fallen power lines can call: (315) 339.7778 or (315) 339.7774.  If telephone service is lost the cellular telephone number for the City Yard is: (315) 225.9091.
