Parents and children alike are going crazy over Pokemon GO. The City of Utica and the Utica City School District are taking advantage of the new technological craze getting people together to enjoy a fun-filled day catching the little creatures at Hanna Park.

City Hall alone has four Poke Stops and a gym. This event was designed for family-fun, and to encourage safe play of the new interactive smart phone game. Not only will people be able to try and "catch them all," but there will be food trucks and live music. The first 50 people to Hanna Park for the Poke Party on Wednesday, August 24th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will receive a free T-Shirt commemorating the event. The first 100 players will receive a Pokemon GO decal.

The event is FREE to attend, and was organized by Utica Councilwoman Maria McNeil to fill the need for good clean family-fun in the city. She says, "Utica is starving for good clean family entertainment and safe things to do, so who better to partner with for that than our Utica City School District and Board Member Michele Mandia and Made in Utica, the talented, young, Utica proud organizers of several successful public events. As a council person in this city I’m honored to be a part of organizing this, but as a mom and a family woman, I’m really excited for the event and look forward to its success."

Don't pass up this opportunity to enjoy this cool new craze that was designed for more than the negative press it has received. What a great idea from community organizers to put on such a cool event.
