SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Closing arguments are scheduled Monday in the trial of a prominent central New York doctor charged with killing his wife inside their mansion in 2012.

The defense rested Friday in the trial of Dr. Robert Neulander, a 63-year-old obstetrician-gynecologist who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his 61-year-old wife, Leslie.

Prosecutors say Neulander killed her in a fit of rage inside their home in DeWitt, near Syracuse. Neulander told police he found his wife injured in the shower.

Neulander didn't take the stand in his own defense, but two of his four children did.

The medical examiner initially ruled the death an accident, causing police to stop collecting evidence. Police returned to the home months later. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide in 2014.
