The tenth edition of CNY Battleground will be the biggest event yet, according to Frank Chrisitano, promoter of Heavy Hands Productions.

''It's time to go big or go home.''

The event, April 5th at the Utica Aud, has 18 bouts on the card, featuring amateur MMA fighters from central New York, Dallas, New Jersey and Canada.

With floor seating, the Aud could pack-in about 5,000 fans, Christiano said.

The New York State Legislature is considering a bill to legalize MMA in the state, however these type events have gone on in New York for this reason: experts say the law prohibits 'professional MMA' fighting.

''We got around the law a little bit because there is no governing body of amateur athletics in the state'', Christiano said.

Heavy Hands held its first event in Rome, NY several years ago as a muay thai saying he was willing to take the risk because it would have only been a misdemeanor anyway.

Tickets are available for $35 through Heavyhandsproductions.com.
