Syracuse, NY (WIBX) - More than a dozen Army National Guard Soldiers based in Syracuse are on their way to Afghanistan today. Some left yesterday. Military officials say their embarking on a nine-month deployment to support current intelligence staffs. The Soldiers are from National Guard's 27th Infantry Brigade.

The Soldiers, assigned to Company B, 27th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, departed from Camp Shelby where they had prepared for deployment since February. We wish them all a safe return home.
