College Student Hurt In Fall Off Walkway While Skateboarding

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Police on Long Island say a college student is in serious condition after he fell off an elevated walkway while skateboarding.

Nassau County Police say the 20-year-old Hofstra University student was riding his skateboard around 11:30 p.m. Sunday on a foot bridge when he hit the stairway's protective railing, flipped over and fell about 30 feet to the bottom.

Police say the man sustained a fractured skull. He was taken to a local hospital, where he's listed in serious condition. The student's name isn't being released.
