The Utica Comets are closing in on the playoffs!

Riding their current seven-game winning streak - a franchise best run - the Comets are just four points away from clinching the North Division of the AHL's Western Conference. They can close that gap tonight at the Utica AUD when they host the Rochester Americans.

Eight teams from each conference qualify for the Calder Cup Playoffs, meaning Utica is all but a lock for a postseason ticket. And, because of their success this year, home ice advantage in the first round is virtually guaranteed.

Utica Comets Director of Communications, Mark Caswell Jr, joined us Monday on WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning:

Home ice through the Western Conference playoffs is within reach as well. Utica trails San Antonio by one point in the standings for the conference lead, and the Comets have nine game remaining while the Rampage have eight to play.
