After going winless in the first ten games no one thought the Utica Comets would have a chance to even sniff the playoffs in their inaugural season.

But since that 0-8-1-1 start, the Comets had racked up an impressive 33-23-4-3 record entering Sunday's contest at Adirondack, just two points out in the chase for AHL's eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

It's an accomplishment in itself, but it now looks like that rough start may have been too much to overcome. Following yesterday's 2-1 loss to the Phantoms - coupled with an Oklahoma City win - the Comets dropped four points behind OKC for that final postseason ticket with just three game to go.

On the bright side, all three of their remaining games will come at the AUD where the Utica fans have come out in full force to create not only a great atmosphere for a game, but a roaring fan base to support the team.

According to AHL statistics,  Comets games at the AUD are averaging 89.5% capacity (an average of over 3,416 fans per game with a maximum capacity of 3,815), with several sellouts along the way.

They will face tough opponents in this final set, as all three of their final games come against teams who have clinched, are on the brink of clinching, their own playoff positions:

  • Wednesday vs. Rochester 7:00
  • Friday vs. Toronto 7:00
  • Saturday vs Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 7:00
