What took ten games to accomplish in their inaugural season came much easier in year two.

The Utica Comets jumped into the win column on Saturday with a season opening 2-1 victory over the Toronto Marlies, lead by goalie Jacob Markstrom's 24 saves.

Alexandre Grenier had a goal and an assist, while Cal O'Reilly was credited with an assist on both Comet goals. Dustin Jeffrey light the lamp on the power play in the second period to score what proved to be the game winner.

The Comets stay in Canada for another meeting with Marlies this afternoon at 3:00.
