Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - Fifty students from area schools are being featured in the Congressional High School Art Exhibit at Herkimer County Community College.

This is the 30th year that Congress has supported a search for artistic talent in each congressional district. Since its inception in 1982 more than 650,000students have participated in the competition.

The exhibit takes place through Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Cogar Gallery. There will be a reception and awards ceremony on Friday night from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

The top six pieces will move on to a regional exhibit at Munson Williams and the Pratt Institute where they will compete for a chance to be exhibited at the Nation's Capitol for one year.

The photo featured on our website is the 2011 winning entry from Congressman Richard Hanna on behalf of the 24th Congressional District. By student Jason Crawford, it is entitled "Ferris Wheel."
