Officials in Broome County and at the Greater Binghamton Airport hope to attract more business thanks to a federal grant.  Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenney announced the award of almost $1.4 million at the airport in the Town of Maine.

$700,000 is earmarked for developing an airport master plan with the rest going to equipment upgrades.

County Director of Aviation, David Hickling says he expects BGM will look toward adding more Delta Flights rather than trying to attract additional carriers.

Tenney also reviewed the progress on the Prospect Mountain project and said she wants to bring more federal money for local infrastructure project and to address flooding issues.

Meanwhile, one of Tenney’s opponents in the race for Congress, Democrat New York State Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, criticized Tenney for what he said was her failure to oppose possible infrastructure funding cuts from the Trump administration.

Brindisi faces a possible Democratic primary in the race with Heath Phillips recently announcing his plans to also run in the 22nd Congressional District.
