A woman in Dover, New York says she woke up to find that her home had been burglarized.  When she got into her car she says that had been gone through as well, and she called police.

When New York State Police responded to the call from the woman on Saturday, June 27, 2015 they say that they also discovered that the woman's television and vehicle had been damaged.

According to a written release troopers are now charging 34-year-old Daniel J. Vandekar of Kent, Connecticut with entering the home.  Vandekar, who is known by the victim, is being formally charged with the following:

  • criminal mischief (third degree, a felony)
  • grand larceny (fourth degree, a felony)
Vandekar was arraigned before the Town of Dover Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.  He is scheduled to answer the charges in court on July 13, 2015.
