Convertino Tries To Save “Modern Landmark” In Utica

Utica, NY (WIBX) - An Oneida County Legislator voices her concerns regarding the demolition of a "modern landmark" in downtown Utica.

In a letter to Mayor Roefaro, Legislator Rose Ann Convertino expressed the City's plans to close Park Avenue to create more parking and demolish the HSBC building as "ill-conceived."

"The money would be better spent by investing in structural improvements that would save this 'modern landmark' which could be marketed to attract businesses and restore jobs within the City of Utica," says Convertino.

She goes on to say the closing of Park Avenue would only cause more traffic congestion, while creating very few parking spaces.

The City's parking needs are the areas near the Utica Auditorium and the State and County Office Buildings.
