A convicted rapist is facing new charges after violating his parole. The violation was a result of an alleged robbery that took place in Marcy.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Deputies were called to a residence for a report of an altercation over money between 23-year-old Joshua Jones and his 73-year-old grandfather.

According to police, when Jones' grandfather refused to hand over the money Jones allegedly got physical with his grandfather taking his wallet and removing money from it. During the physical altercation Jones' grandpa sustained injuries to both arms.

Jones was taken into custody by the Oneida Count Sheriff's Office near the residence and arraigned in the Town of Marcy Court. He was then sent to Oneida County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail. He is being charged with Felony Robbery in the Second Degree. Jones was on Parole for a Third Degree Rape conviction in 2014.
