Washington D.C.  (1/21/13)  --  A taste of Upstate New York was present at the Inauguration of President Barack Obama on Monday afternoon at the Presidential Luncheon.

Cooperstown Cheese, based in Milford, NY near Cooperstown supplied the event with Jersey Girl Colby and their award-winning Toma Celena which was featured on a dessert that also included Upstate NY honey and a Hudson Valley Apple Pie.

Finger Lakes wine was also on the menu.  The 2010 Tierce Dry Riesling was served with the first course with lobster and clam chowder.

The 2010 Tierce Dry Riesling is a vintage of the Tierce wines created for years by the winemakers of Anthony Road Wine Co., Fox Run Vineyards and Red Newt Cellars Winery & Bistro. All three of the wineries are on Seneca Lake, in the Finger Lakes wine region of New York.

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer D-NY, arranged for the Upstate contribution.   Schumer is chairman of the joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, which planned the luncheon.
