Three area high school basketball teams made it to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships this weekend but just one returned home with a title.

The Cooperstown Hawkeyes' girls captured the Class-C state crown on Sunday, knocking off Northern Adirondack 61-34.

On the boys' side, New York Mills (Class D) and Waterville (Class C) each made it to their respective title games but came up a bit short: Waterville lost 53-50 to Lake George, while New York Mills fell to Bridgehampton 62-49.

For Mills, it was a third straight trip to the Class D State Final Four.
