A fire that significantly damaged the Cooperstown Motel earlier this month has been ruled arson.

Cooperstown Police say the August 8th fire started on the second floor of the structure and was intentionally set.

Specific details relating to the cause and origin of the fire are not being released due to the continuing criminal investigation.

The fire has been under investigation by multiple agencies, including the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, Otsego County Office of Emergency Services and the Cooperstown Police Department.
