Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]According to a statement released Monday evening by Cornell University Police Chief Kathy Zoner, the agency is looking into "unsubstantiated threats" made by an unknown person on a pair of "third party, non-Cornell" websites.

Zoner said the threats were not specific regarding location or motive but there was "a clear reference to causing harm."

The police chief said her department is working with local and federal law enforcement agencies. She said the department also is increasing its staffing and presence on all campuses.

Zoner said she was calling attention to the threats "out of an abundance of caution" so everyone can be more vigilant.

People may report suspicious items or activity by calling 607.255.5000.

Zoner said she plans to provide an update on the situation by midday on Wednesday.
