RIDGEWAY, N.Y. (AP) — State police say a husband and wife have died after their car was rear-ended by another vehicle on a western New York road.

Troopers say 38-year-old Rebecca Harrier was stopped while waiting to make a left turn on state Route 31 around midnight Sunday when a car slammed into hers in the rural Orleans County town of Ridgeway, 40 miles (64 kilometers) west of Rochester.

Police say Harrier was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, 39-year-old Randy Harrier Jr., was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he died Monday.

The Harriers were from Kent, near the crash scene.

Troopers say the 22-year-old Medina man driving the other car was treated at Strong for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the accident's cause.
