COLONIE, N.Y. (AP) — The state Department of Environmental Conservation is warning residents in upstate New York following coyote sightings.

Coyotes have been spotted in residential areas in the town of Colonie recently. Residents of one neighborhood in the Albany suburb say the animals are roaming around during the day. Some are fearful for their pets.

DEC spokeswoman Wendy Rosenbach tells WNYT-TV residents should call a regional DEC office or local police if they see a coyote lingering.

Coyotes have also been spotted in Washington County, where a 64-year-old woman was attacked by a rabid coyote in Kingsbury last week.

This story has been changed to correct location of coyote attack to Kingsbury instead of Fort Edward.
