PENFIELD, N.Y. (AP) — The family of a 24-year-old man killed this week in a one-car crash at a western New York intersection say his brother died in an accident at the same spot in 2006.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Pavel "Paul" Laune (low-OO'-nuh) and 28-year-old Melody Stacklyn were killed when their vehicle crashed around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, rolled over and hit several trees near an intersection in the town of Penfield, just east of Rochester.

Laune's older brother, Andrejs, was killed along with another man in a two-car collision at the same intersection 11 years ago.

Parents Nina and Alex Laune, immigrants from Latvia, went to the scene of Tuesday's crash on Wednesday, then walked the 100 yards down the road to kneel at the spot where the 2006 crash occurred.

The cause of Tuesday's crash remains under investigation.
