Chicago Cubs legend Ernie Banks has died at the age of 83.

Banks, who earned the nickname "Mr. Cub," played 19 seasons in the major league, all with Chicago.

He was the first black player in Cubs history.

Banks batted .274 lifetime, with 512 homers and more than 1,600 RBI's and was a 14-time All-Star.

The two-time National League MVP was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977.

In 2013, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor given to citizens in the United States.
