$45 million in emergency communications grants have awarded to counties across the state.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says the funding will allow local governments to enhance emergency response systems and implement next generation 911 technology

Oneida and Herkimer Counties will each get over $637,000, while Madison County will receive more than $821,000.

"In an emergency, every second counts," Cuomo said. "This critical funding will improve the quality and efficiency of emergency response capabilities across New York, while supporting the brave first responders who put their lives on the line every day to protect their neighbors and their community."
