Governor Andrew Cuomo has nominated Lt. Colonel George Beach to serve as the next superintendent of the New York State Police..

A search committee that was launched by the Governor in April unanimously   recommended Beach for the job.

Beach has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience and was named Lt. Colonel of the State Police in 2013

Beach will replace Joseph D'Amico, who has served as superintendent of the New York State Police since 2011.

“I am incredibly honored to be nominated to serve as superintendent of the New York State Police,” Lt. Colonel Beach said. “I have spent my entire career serving the people of New York State, and there is no greater privilege than having the opportunity to continue that good work at the highest level. I am grateful to Governor Cuomo for this nomination and am proud to work side-by-side with him.”

His appointment must be confirmed by the Senate.
