Albany, NY (WIBX) - Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed a bill targeting those pesky telemarketers who keep calling you.

Under the new law, telemarketers will be banned from using prerecorded messages in telephone calls.

Automated "robo calls" for political campaigns are exempt from the new law, with the governor saying they fall under a federal guideline and can't be banned by the state.

The new law also requires telemarketers to offer residents the option to be placed on the "do-not-call" list.
