ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has released his tax returns for last year showing a combined federal and state tax bill of nearly $55,000.

The Democratic governor also made $11,000 in charitable contributions in 2017. The donations went to HELP USA, a charity he founded years ago to fight homelessness.

Cuomo's administration allowed reporters to inspect the tax returns on Tuesday, the deadline for Americans to file their federal taxes. Cuomo releases his returns each year.

Cuomo's federal return lists $212,000 in income, including investments and his $179,000 salary.

Democratic Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul also released her returns, showing she and her husband William Hochul reported $585,000 in federal income. William Hochul is a former federal prosecutor who is now general counsel at Delaware North, a Buffalo-based hospitality and casino company.
