UPDATED 3:32 p.m.- Ilion Police are investigating a home invasion that turned deadly.
It happened just before 10:00 this morning at 39 Richfield Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year old man, who has not been identified, laying dead in the driveway of the home

Police say it appears it was a home-invasion armed robbery in which the homeowner shot the suspect in self defense.

The homeowner suffered a head injury, along with injuries to his extremities.He was treated for his injuries and released.

More information, including the name of the homeowner, is expected to be released tomorrow.

Because of close proximity to the scene, Central Valley Academy was briefly placed on lockdown.

A lockdown at the Central Valley School District has been lifted. The district was briefly in lockdown mode this morning at the request of Ilion Police, school officials said, but as of 10:45 Wednesday morning, that order was no longer in place.

It is believed authorities were investigating a possible shooting incident. It is not believed that there was any direct threat to the school or students and staff.

Ilion Police have not yet released details on their investigation or what prompted the call for a lockdown.
