The founder of a conservative political action committee has been tapped to be the new executive director of the North Carolina Republican Party.

Dallas Woodhouse, who started the group Carolina Rising in 2014, has been unofficially congratulated on Twitter last night by dozens celebrating the announcement, although no official confirmation has come from the NC GOP.

Woodhouse, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, was a political television host and former state director of Americans for Prosperity.  He will replace Todd Poole, who has held the position since August of 2013 and has since resigned to become chief of staff for Rep. Richard Hudson of North Carolina's 8th Congressional District.

WIBX has reached out for a formal statement from the NC GOP.
