David Rockefeller Estate Donates Land To NY State Preserve

POCANTICO HILLS, N.Y. (AP) — A nearly 350-acre parcel of land has been donated by the late billionaire philanthropist David Rockefeller's estate to the state park reserve at his family's former property in New York City's northern suburbs.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday 346 acres have been gifted to Rockefeller State Park Preserve at Pocantico Hills in the town of Mount Pleasant, 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of the city. The Democrat calls the donation "another tremendous asset" for New York state.

The preserve's total acreage of more than 1,770 acres now stretches from the Hudson River east to the Taconic Parkway.

The Rockefeller Reserve is open year-round for walking, running, horseback riding and wildlife watching.

David Rockefeller died in 2017 at 101 as the last surviving grandson of the oil baron John D. Rockefeller.
